Living in Berlin

The city of Berlin has a population of 3,4 million people and is the capital of Germany. The Campus Berlin-Buch, where the MDC is located, is situated in a suburb at the north-eastern border of Berlin. It is a historic research campus from the beginning of the 20th century. In the late 1920s the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Brain Research was established in Berlin-Buch, as one of the first of its kind. Over the years various other research institutions were established on the Campus Berlin-Buch, currently hosting the Max Delbrück Centre for Molecular Medicine (MDC), the Leibniz Institute for molecular pharmacology (FMP), the Experimental and Clinical Research Center (ECRC), the Helios Clinic and several Biotech companies. The MDC was founded in 1992 to combine basic and clinical research in the areas of oncology, cardiovascular disease and neurobiology.

You can reach the MDC in 25 minutes from the city centre by S-Bahn (S2-trains run every 10min from the city centre, such as Potsdamer Platz. For more information about public transport in Berlin havea look at the website of the BVG).
