Thesis supervision
Day-to-day supervision of your research project by the group leader is complemented with a PhD thesis Committee. The committee, consists of the PhD supervisor and 2 additional scientists of the MDC or partner universities. In addition, external members can be nominated to support the PhD committee in guiding the student’s work.
The first thesis committeee meeting is organized within 6 to 9 months from the start of the PhD project, students provide a written outline of the research project to the PhD committee and present it in a short seminar. During the first meeting the committee will discuss the scope, impact, feasibility and associated risk of the project with the student. For the second and third year committee, students prepare a project progress report and give a short presentation followed by a discussion to the thesis committee. The PhD committee monitors progress and offers feedback on the research project.
