Reference Section and Lending Desk
The lending desk is located across the entrance on the right side of the building, where the reading room including the open stacks of the entire journal inventory as well as the series can also be found.
Copy machines (card and coin operated) are available here for library users. Copy cards can be obtained at the lending desk and are charged to the users' current account. Non-members may use the copy machines for 0,05 Euro / page.
32 working places are available in the library reading room.
The wardrobe, closets, lockers ,and coat stands are located immediately next to the entrance.
Next to the lockers, the library's newest monographic acquisitions are displayed.
Shelves with the current journal issues and their respective annual volumes are found on the other side.
Users looking for a journal title from the existing MDC inventory should refer to the Journal Database, that is searchable or displays the titles (Online & Print) alphabetically organized. The bound journals in the stacks are arranged according to call numbers, with the lowest call numbers beginning across from the lending desk. The series, which are labeled as such in the periodicals directory, begin with the lowest call number and start in the left hand corner of the reading room, arranged in a likewise consecutively numbered fashion.
Users have direct access to all periodical material and can copy articles themselves.
In the lending desk area next to the periodical literature, users can also find dictionaries, reference material, lexicons, and statute books.
Computers in the Library
The library has a PC network installed, which is connected to various CD-ROM databases and a Silverplatter-ERL-Server. Owing to the link of the library network to the campus network, users have the possibility to utilize the library services from every connected PC throughout the campus. Five computer workstations are available to users in the library reading room, all fitted with local disk drives, USB interfaces, CD-ROM-drives, partially CD writers and laser printers. These computers can also be used to search literature databases locally on CD-ROMs that are not available on the network. Optionally each visitor has the possibility to access the Internet via WLAN using one's own notebook.

Stack Room
The compact open-stack room for monographs is located in the left part of the building. This area also contains a work room for groups of up to 15 people, and can be used for meetings or seminars subject to prior agreement with the head librarian.
