Research for the patient
To strengthen the clinical research with patients and healthy volunteers the Charité runs specialized out-patient clinics, special consultations, and the Franz Volhard Clinical Research Center on the campus Berlin Buch. These clinical research units are included in the Experimental and Clinical Research Center (ECRC) of the MDC and the Charité. The goal is, to apply new discoveries and insights for the benefit of the patient.
Special consultations for neurologic and psychiatric diseases and an out-patient clinic for lipid metabolism disorders are to be opened soon. A clinical study on diabetic nephropathy is conducted at the Virchow Klinikum. Furthermore, ECRC researchers are members of the Competence Network Heart Failure.
