The 11th Joint PhD Retreat of the MDC and FMP!
In early September 2009, 120 graduate students of the MDC and FMP once again enjoyed three days of science, networking, and lively discussions in a nice atmosphere at the Hotel Sommerfeld in Kremmen. We had great talks and poster sessions, where the PhD students shared their recently achieved results and also could get feedback and input on how to pursue their work.
As every year, we had internationally renowned external speakers presenting their latest research.
This year's speakers were:
Cancer research: Nancy Hynes (FMI, Basel)
Immunology: Carsten Watzl (University Heidelberg)
Neurobiology: Stephen Minger (King’s College, London)
Structural Biology: Michael Sattler (Helmholtz Center Munich)
RNA Biology: Elisa Izaurralde (MPI Developmental Biology, Tübingen)
Cardiovascular: Stephan Baldus (Herzzentrum, Hamburg)
We thank the PhD coordinators, the MDC and FMP, the staff of the hotel, the keynote speakers and everybody else who helped to make this retreat possible.
