Faculty of MolNeuro

Our Research Program focuses on studying the molecular and cellular bases of the healthy and pathological nervous system. This includes understanding how nerve cells establish connections with each other in a specific way and over great distances, how the differentiation into diverse cell types of the nervous system is controlled, and how receptor and signal molecules recognize and integrate information during the development of the nervous system. The search for responsible mechanisms has been expanded by a proteomic approach, enabling the study of molecular interactions in the case of neurodegenerative diseases and the development of new treatment approaches. A further approach is to clarify the role of adult stem cells in plastic alterations in the brain, which also offers clinical perspectives.
