International Research Training Group for Myology
The Call for applications is open from December 1, 2010 through March 31, 2011
In November 2009 the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) established MyoGrad – the first structured graduate program for muscle sciences worldwide. Partner institutions are Charité Medical School the Free University and the Humboldt University in Berlin together with the University Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris (Paris VI). 18 stipends for PhD or MD-PhD students and 5 stipends for MD students are available within the program.
MyoGrad offers the best internationally selected PhD and MD students an English curriculum that covers the entire spectrum of muscle-related cell and molecular biology as well as clinical aspects of muscle diseases. In addition the program runs its own MD-PhD program to attract future physician scientists. It is associated with the Helmholtz Graduate School of Molecular Cell Biology for admission and transferable skill education. Teaching in Summer School settings, continuous communication between students and teachers in seminars and journal clubs face-to-face and online and a myology “E-learning” platform are the cornerstones of the educational concept.
