Fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) is a specialised type of flow cytometry. It provides a method for sorting a heterogeneous mixture of biological cells into distinct subsets, based upon the specific light scattering and fluorescent characteristics of each cell. It allows a fast physical separation of cells with particular interest.
This FACS Core Facility provides technical assistance to researchers at the MDC with two state of the art digital high-speed sorters “FACSAria” and one analog high-speed sorter “FACSVantage SE” from BD.
