We focus on the functional characterization of endocytic receptors, cell surface proteins that transport metabolites, hormones or signaling molecules into cells. Endocytic receptors play a crucial role in the systemic and cellular metabolism, and endocytic receptor dys-functions are the cause of many devastating diseases in humans. Using a repertoire of techniques from protein chemistry to cell biology to transgenics we aim at elucidating the physiological function of novel endocytic receptors and their role in human disease.
