Dominik N. Müller studied pharmacy at the Free University of Berlin (1991-1992). He completed his Ph.D. thesis in 1996 and achieved faculty rank (Habilitation) for Experimental Medicine in 2004. After his postdoctoral work at Franz-Volhard Clinic and Max-Delbrück-Center Berlin (1996-2004), he was appointed a Delbrück Fellow at the MDC (2004-2010). Dominik N. Müller was recruited to a W3 (full) professorship for Experimental Medicine at the University of Erlangen. Jointly with Ralf Dechend, Dominik N. Müller leads this ECRC research group.

Ralf Dechend studied medicine at the Medical School of Hannover (Germany), Brown University Rhode Island (USA), and Charing Cross London (Great Britain). After his postdoctoral work at the Max-Delbrück-Center with a scholarship of the German Research Foundation (DFG) (1996-1998)  he returned as assistant physician to the Charité Berlin. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiology and was accepted to faculty rank (Habilitation) at the Charité. Ralf Dechend holds an appointment at the Charité (ECRC) and is attending cardiologist (Oberarzt) at the HELIOS Klinikum-Berlin. Jointly with Dominik N. Müller, Ralf Dechend leads this ECRC research group.
