Abstract

In this talk, we will discuss how machine learning can impact translational research and potentially transform disease diagnosis. Using brain tumor classification from DNA methylation data as an example, we will look at recent developments based on random forests and neural networks. I will then introduce our own Naive Bayes–based classifier, which demonstrates how simpler models can still perform remarkably well in real-world diagnostic settings.
