Keynote Lecture - Decoding Complete Remission: What successful T-cells can teach us about cancer treatment

Andrew Sewell’s research has always revolved around how living systems cope with adversity. His lab focuses on how T-cells recognise their targets via the ligands and receptors that underpin immune recognition. While this basic biology informs many areas of immunity, much of the current work explores how such mechanisms can be harnessed for cancer immunotherapy.
Beyond oncology, the team’s work also spills into transplant tolerance, autoimmune disease and infection, but the common thread remains the same: modulating T-cell recognition to understand, and ultimately improve, human health.
