Open Positions

The Berlin Ultrahigh-Field Facility (B.U.F.F.) is currently seeking scientists who are interested in the development and clinical application of ultrahigh-field magnetic resonance imaging as Diploma-, Master-, Bachelor-, and Doctoral Thesis Projects.

General applications may be also send to carolin.bechtloff@mdc-berlin.de.

Alternatively, feel free to apply specifically for one of the following research programs that are currently running on B.U.F.F.:

Translational imaging of brain function

Utilizing state-of-the-art functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) we investigate brain functions and network dynamics non-invasively in humans and small animals at ultrahigh magnetic field strengths. By detailing similarities and differences across species we aim to set the foundation for meaningful translational fMRI with a strong clinical focus.

Application details

Application criteria  We are looking for motivated and ambitious students with an independent working style, who are keen to learn and grow in an international research environment at the interface of (f)MRI and molecular medicine. Applicants should ideally hold a background in either psychology, medical or life sciences, (bio)physics, signal processing, statistics, or related fields. Background in fMRI is beneficial, but not required. An open mind, a healthy attitude, and a keen perception helps as well.

Project Structure  We offer a classical project structure for students, who prefer to work independently on a defined objective. Besides, we provide the opportunity of tandem projects in which two students team up to collaborate and support each other. Each student‘s individual objective is embedded in a common research project, which is accomplished as a team effort. The idea is to encourage team spirit and improve collaborative skills and responsibility at an early stage of the career. This makes the work more fun and efficient. Feel free to apply for a tandem project as a team player or as a team of two.
