Lab meets Teacher
Welcome to the “Lab meets Teacher” program!
Course program and registration information
The training "Learning to Fly: what the fruit fly brain can teach us about human neurodegenerative diseases" is held in English.
Course description: Ageing is the most significant risk factor for developing neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. The fruit fly, with a strikingly similar brain to our own, has recently emerged as a powerful model for studying human disease. Through genetic modification and state-of-the-art sequencing, we are able to gain unprecedented insight into the brain's reaction to age and neurodegenerative disease. During this course, the teachers will learn about the techniques we are currently using in fruit flies to further our understanding of human neurodegenerative disease.
The remaining training courses are held in German. Please refer to our German program.
All of the courses are accredited by the Berlin Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family and the Brandenburg Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

Teachers comments:
"... for Hamburg and also the rest of the republic, it would of course be great if you would continue the online events after the epidemic!"
"Please continue to offer similar courses after Corona, it is extremely difficult to get good technical input at this level."
"Please continue to offer online. With a travel distance of over 1h and difficulties to organize with family, participation can be quite problematic. This way it is possible for me. Thank you very much!!!"
"Please, please keep these lectures. Especially for teachers at schools abroad who can't go to many face-to-face events a year, this here is a goldmine, even after the pandemic."
"I am grateful for this information directly from the current state of research. It gives me the opportunity to better answer questions from peers and students. Digital was great, it can reach so many people without having to move far."
"Great: the online courses mean I can attend comfortably from Hamburg, at home!"
"Excellent lecture and moderation. Thank you for the effort and opportunity to educate like this."
