Dear reader,

Wouldn’t it be nice to simply regenerate body parts after they fail? The axolotl is an animal which has this ability, but humans and other mammals do not. The participants of the UniStem Day 2018 at the MDC learned that they simply lack the required stem cells. The European stem cell day is intended to complement school curricula, helps networking with professionals, and conveys some of the wonder and fascination of doing research.

A completely different kind of fascinating research was conveyed by Marc Abrahams, emcee and initiator of the Ig Nobel Prizes. He held a talk about the most unusual kinds of science and shortcomings of the human mind. Scroll down to see our recording of his lecture!
