Dear readers,

Did you use the time at home to read a little more? For us, it was an opportunity to create a new column: "What are you reading now?" which highlights what employees at the MDC are reading. The first response is from the muscle researcher Simone Spuler, who shares her book recommendation. Culture also plays an important role in Anton Henssen's life. He not only wants to understand rare tumors in children, but is also a DNA artist. Read our researcher portrait to find out what this is all about.

Of course, we - in cooperation with many partners - continue to work on COVID-19: The NAKO health study, for example, is investigating the long-term effects of the pandemic on the health of the population. Genome researchers from more than 20 institutions are pooling their expertise. And the LabHive online platform provides an overview of possible test capacities.

We have even more research results from the MDC for you too, including a study on a chronic inflammatory bowel disease. This work was almost exclusively driven by female scientists, the last author is a postdoc.

Enjoy reading!
