This was officially announced by the European Commission on Tuesday. The coordinators of LifeTime in Berlin and Paris were pleased that they can now begin the actual work. Chancellor Merkel praised the initiative. Press Release No. 1 January 15, 2019 Berlin Europe looks to cells for a healthier future Our body’s cells are constantly changing. But which of these changes are healthy developments and which lead to serious diseases? This is what LifeTime, a new transnational and interdisciplinary initiative of leading European researchers, aims to discover. The consortium is jointly coordinated by the MDC and the Institut Curie in Paris. It has now cleared an important hurdle. Press Release No. 32 December 21, 2018 Berlin Tracking development cell by cell is ‘Breakthrough of the Year’ – Berlin-based MDC is a hot spot for such research The U.S. journal Science has chosen single-cell analysis as the Breakthrough of the Year. A major international hot spot for the revolutionary technology is the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) in Berlin. The European consortium LifeTime, which is coordinated from Berlin and Paris, intends to focus on this new approach. Science November 09, 2018 Scientists call for unified standards in 3D genome and epigenetic data Studying the three-dimensional structure of DNA and its dynamics is revealing a lot of information about gene expression, expanding our knowledge of how cells, tissues and organs work in health and disease. To properly produce and manage this amount of data we need unified standards and guidelines, LifeTime researchers say. Press Release No. 6 March 21, 2018 Berlin LifeTime – a visionary proposal for an EU Flagship Reliably predicting the onset and trajectory of a disease might seem like a distant dream. But a European consortium is aiming to achieve exactly this using a set of emerging technologies with the analysis of single cells at their core.
