From 1953 until his retirement, Bielka served in important positions on the campus. He was 91 years old. His outstanding contributions will be long remembered. Science December 10, 2019 The simplicity behind complexity 50 years ago today, on December 10, 1969, a reserved and modest man accepted the Nobel Prize for Medicine in Stockholm. This man was Max Delbrück, a native of Berlin. An article by Detlev Ganten. It is a “bottoms-up” approach to writing history, with contributions by Jens Reich and Detlev Ganten. On the anniversary of the founding of the Neues Forum, Jens Reich examined this question – covering the period from the initial Aufbruch 89 manifesto to the present day. And to mark the start of the new BIMSB series “Breaking Boundaries,” Wolf and Pamela Biermann followed his speech with a special concert – all just a stone’s throw away from the balladeer’s former apartment. The new award recognizes those who have made particularly significant contributions to the MDC, and consists of the Max Delbrück Center Badge of Honor together with a certificate of honorary membership. The award will be presented for the first time at the silver jubilee event on December 1, 2017.
