The map and timeline showing the spread of the coronavirus are freely available on the internet. Press Release No. 4 February 05, 2020 Berlin A close-up look at mutated DNA in cancer cells PCAWG, the largest cancer research consortium in the world, has set itself the task of improving our understanding of genetic mutations in tumors. A new study by the international research group, to which the MDC substantially contributed, is now being published in the journal Nature. Press Release No. 58 December 02, 2019 Berlin Deep learning identifies molecular patterns of cancer An artificial intelligence platform developed at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) can analyze genomic data extremely quickly, picking out key patterns to classify different types of colorectal tumors and improve the drug discovery process. The deeper analysis shows some colorectal subtypes need to be reclassified. Press Release No. 16 April 26, 2019 Berlin Press Invitation: Opening Conference of LifeTime in Berlin The Opening Conference of LifeTime will take place on 6 and 7 May 2019 in Berlin. The pan-European research initiative aims to develop new technologies for the treatment and early detection of diseases. Press Release No. 14 April 16, 2019 Berlin Kick-starting the kidneys with an established antifungal drug An MDC research team has discovered surprising new properties in fluconazole, a long approved fungal drug. The substance helps to draw water from urine. The researchers found this in rodents. The fungicide could help patients with rare genetic diseases in whom the water transport of the kidneys is impaired. Nevertheless, the path to therapy is not easy. Press Release No. 10 April 18, 2018 Berlin Keeping the excitement under control James Poulet's lab listens to the activity of networks of single sensory neurons in the brain and discovered how a single signal from one cell manages to attract attention. Press Release No. 2 February 06, 2018 Berlin How a Mutated Gene Triggers Hypertension Too much aldosterone causes hypertension. One cause is a mutation in the CLCN2 gene, which contains the blueprint for an ion channel of the adrenal cortex. Press Release No. 7 February 18, 2016 Berlin Stuck on the school bench Citizen science: Teachers, pupils and scientists work together to measure sitting behavior in young people.
