Profile
The main focus of the group is the application and development of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) as a tool for innovative in-vivo non-invasive phenotyping of myocardial structure, metabolism and function as well as noninvasive hemodynamics. That reflects the understanding of diseases as an injury of the human system.
During the last years, we were able to apply the pre-examined parameters in different diseases and were able to differentiate myocardial injury in preserved ejection fraction. Microstructures could be assessed as first in human application in healthy volunteers as well as in patients using the 7 Tesla system.
Meanwhile, parts of our former research are introduced as standard within international clinical routine. We have collaborations worldwide by means of both lively exchanges with visiting researchers and within the framework of multi-centre projects.
