 \nBerlin\, Campus Virchow-Klinikum\,13353 Berlin\,Germany
SUMMARY:BIH Course on Stem Cells: Training on Handling and Maintenance of H
 uman Pluripotent Stem Cells
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:Human pluripotent stem cells (hPSC)\, and in particular induced
PSC\n(hiPSC)\, are in the focus of BIH research. This includes generation
\nand differentiation\, but also establishment of disease models etc. All\
nof these activities require a profound knowledge and hands-on\nexpertise
of maintaining and manipulating hPSCs in tissue culture.\n\nThe processes
involved in these aspects of hPSC handling in tissue\nculture are labor in
tensive and distinct from that of other mammalian\ncell cultures. The BIH
Stem Cell Core facility is organizing regular\ntraining on these methodolo
gies.\n\nThis initial training course focuses on the handling and maintena
nce\nas a prerequisite for any kind of hiPSC research.\n\nDuring this basi
c training\, lectures and practical experience will\ncover methodology and
major techniques used for working with hiPSCs\nwith a focus on techniques
  required to maintain\, preserve and\ncharacterize these cells.\n\nPlease
note: the course is free of charge.\n\nWho should attend this course?\nThe
training is intended for researchers and technicians who are\nplanning pr
ojects using human iPSCs and/or will start working with\niPSCs in the near
future.\nEach workshop is limited to six attendees to provide a comfortab
le\nlearning experience and allow for personalized interactions between\nt
 he trainers and attendees.\n\nPrerequisite\nPrevious hands-on experience i
n mammalian cell culture\, familiarity\nwith basic molecular and cell biol
ogy principles and methods are\nmandatory. The course is open to BIH\, Cha
 rité and MDC investigators.\n
