SUMMARY:Claudia Langenberg - What can blood-based omics deliver for clinica
 l translation?
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:Claudia Langenberg is Professor of Computational Medicine at th
e\nBerlin Institute of Health at Charité (BIH) and MRC Investigator and\n
Programme Leader at the MRC Epidemiology Unit at the University of\nCambri
dge. She studied medicine in Münster\, Germany\, and moved to the\nUnited
Kingdom to obtain her master’s and PhD in epidemiology and\ncomplete sp
ecialist clinical training in public health medicine. After\nspending a ye
ar at the University of California San Diego\, her\nresearch focused on th
e genetic basis of metabolic control\, and her\nteam studies its effects o
n health through integration of molecular\nwith clinical data in large-sca
le patient and population-based\nstudies. Prof Langenberg has over 250 p
ublications\, many in\nhigh-impact journals\, and is one of the most high
ly cited scientists\nin her field.\n\nThe Berlin Center for Translational
Vascular Biomedicine\, jointly\nfounded by the Berlin Institute of Health
(BIH)\, Charité\nUniversitätsmedizin Berlin and the Max Delbrück Center
for Molecular\nMedicine (MDC) in the Helmholtz Association\, represents a
n\ninterdisciplinary scientific network with the pronounced aim to foster\
ntranslation in the field of vascular biomedicine. It unites leading\nscie
ntific knowledge with clinical expertise and thereby promotes the\ntransfe
r of scientific insights to clinical use.\nPursuing its mission\, the Cent
er initiated the Lecture Series\n“Vascular Networking” to invite disti
nguished experts and promote\ninternational scientific exchange to both en
rich the Berlin scientific\ncommunity and provide the foundation for new a
nd visionary\ncollaborations.\nThe lecture series is conducted in an onlin
e-format and attracts a\nbroad audience from the wider Berlin community. T
he online event will\ncomprise a 45 min talk and a 15 min open discussion
followed by a 1\nhour closed exchange with 3-4 interested experts. These s
