DESCRIPTION:In October 2018\, we will celebrate the beginning of a new era 
 for us.\nBy then\, it will have been 10 years since the “Berlin Institut
 e for\nMedical Systems Biology” (BIMSB) was founded. BIMSB is a new unit
  of\nthe MDC for Molecular Medicine. It has its own scientific mission and
 \ninstitutionalized governmental funding. Having started with one group\,\
 nBIMSB now accommodates ~250 scientists and staff. Seventeen group\nleader
 s have joined BIMSB to date\, the vast majority of them hired\nfrom abroad
 . More group leaders (from Assistant Professor to Full\nProfessor) will be
  hired within the next years. We have been\nincubating on the Campus in Be
 rlin-Buch\, and\, we think\, achieved to\nbuild a highly collaborative and
  successful new life science center in\nwhich the best scientists from dif
 ferent disciplines are coming\ntogether to unlock secrets of how genes are
  regulated in health and in\ndisease.\n\nWith Staab Architekten\, one of G
 ermany’s leading architecture firms\,\nwe are building a beautiful new b
 uilding\, nearing completion\, in the\ncenter of Berlin\, right on the Lif
 e Science Campus of the Humboldt\nUniversity\, and in immediate vicinity o
 f the Charité\, the largest\nmedical University in Europe. The new buildi
 ng has been designed with\nour ambition in mind to break boundaries betwee
 n different scientific\ndisciplines and levels of gene regulation. It will
  also serve to\nengage the public\, the life sciences in Berlin\, politics
  and the arts\nin open dialogues.\n\nWe are devoting the 11th annual Berli
 n Summer Meeting to celebrate the\nopening of our new home. We decided to 
 invite scientists who we think\nhave been essential for our science. We ar
 e honored to be hosting an\noutstanding selection of the very best scienti
 sts - including two\nNobel laureates.\n\nWe warmly invite you to join us f
 or the Grand BIMSB Opening Symposium\nand look forward to your participati
