The Berlin-Buch campus promotes sustainable and healthy mobility with new infrastructure and a wide range of activities and campaigns. The German Cyclists’ Association ADFC has now honored the campus’s commitment with its Gold Seal – alongside four other bicycle-friendly employers in Berlin.

Research teams at the Max Delbrück Center and its partner institutions used almost 17,000 fewer research animals in 2023 than in the previous year. The Center has now submitted these figures to the Berlin State Office for Health and Social Affairs (LaGeSo).

Neuroscientists Gary Lewin and James Poulet at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine have won highly coveted and competitive ERC Advanced Grants to study pain and the neural mechanisms that underlie temperature perception.

Ian Erik Stewart is a neuroscientist in James Poulet's lab, where he analyzes proprioception, among other things. In his reading tip, Ian delves into two books that explore the secrets of the brain and human consciousness. And he also recommends a fantastic movie.

He is a molecular biologist and physician, a GDR civil rights activist and bioethicist, a person with integrity and a sense of community. Until 2022, he was an ombudsman at the Max Delbrück Center. We celebrate the 85th birthday of Professor Jens Reich.

Their research is outstanding, and they’re also committed to the Max Delbrück Center and engaged in our community — Manqiang Lin and Artsemi Yushkevich wrote the best papers in 2023; Hendrik Bartolomaeus, Eleonore Adami and Ulrike Löber received the Postdoc Awards for 2023.
