" Nanotechnology-based molecular imaging for cardiovascular applications"
by Jesus Ruiz-Cabello.

Cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases are among the main cause of death worldwide. Imaging-based early diagnosis and characterization of diseases related to these organs are key to avoid clinical complications or anticipate, or even guide new therapies. In the last years we have been investigating the development of new imaging-based biomarkers for atherosclerosis and pulmonary hypertension. Using different techniques and approaches including hot positive contrast-based solutions, our research has addressed essential functional (micro and macro vascular dysfunctions, ventilation, etc) and molecular targets (microcalcifications, angiogenesis, neutrophils, etc.). In this talk, I will present our latest results using molecular imaging approaches for MRI and PET. I will also show how the combined used of nanomaterials with biorthogonal chemistry allows for innovative alternatives in different fields. I will end showing recent work with new research using novel image-guided therapeutical delivery centered in neurovascular applications.
