Invitation

How will science change the way we live? Under the theme “In Touch,” Berlin Science Week 2026 explores how research touches our lives and connects us with one another. Several events at the Max Delbrück Center invite visitors to explore the future of medicine — and help shape it.

Five glass sculptures by artist Julia Lohmann will soon adorn the main entrance of the Imaging Innovation Center of the Max Delbrück Center in Buch. Lohmann won an art competition organized by the center for “Innenall,” an artwork inspired by the colors and shapes of microscopic images.

Supporting each other and standing up for our values: Resilience is the theme of the 4th MDC Pride Symposium, hosted by our LGBTQI+ community on July 18 at MDC-BIMSB. For the first time, researchers will also take part in the Berlin Christopher Street Day parade under the Max Delbrück Center banner.

Since April 3, MDC-BIMSB in Berlin Mitte has been hosting an exhibition of 40 photographs by iconic photographer Sibylle Bergemann. During the opening, which was attended by her daughter Frieda and granddaughter Lily von Wild, the rooftop terrace was named in Bergemann’s honor.

There’s likely to be a fundamental difference between how a medical practicioner and an artist view genetic editing with CRISPR. But both perspectives reveal possible ways to shape life in nature. Science meets art: the Max Delbrück Center at the Salon Sophie Charlotte 2022 in Berlin.

COVID-19 and cardiovascular health, cell diagnostics of the future and new methods for reducing animal testing: MDC scientists will present their work at Berlin Science Week. At PostDoc Day, young researchers from all over Berlin can exchange ideas with each other.

The HIDA Trainee Network’s third call for application is open. Once again, it offers doctoral researchers and postdocs the opportunity to gain interdisciplinary experience in an exchange with another Helmholtz center. In this way, the Trainee Network provides new impulses for collaboration between the centers and builds a vibrant community of data scientists.

The HIDA Trainee Network is back for a second time in 2021. The exchange program promotes interdisciplinary networking between young scientists at Helmholtz and helps them learn from one another

The 13th Berlin Summer Meeting “Rising from the Ashes – Regeneration at the Single Cell Level” will take place as a Christmas Special on Dec. 10-11, 2020. The free, virtual conference will feature talks about regeneration research in animals and organoids.

On September 23 data scientists can find out more about career opportunities in applied data sciences at a virtual career fair. The “Helmholtz Virtual Data Science Career Day“ with several virtual keynotes and over 20 exhibitors is free of charge for participants.
