Advisor to the Scientific Director (f/m/d)

The Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association aims to transform tomorrow’s medicine through our discoveries of today. At locations in Berlin-Buch, Berlin-Mitte, Heidelberg and Mannheim, our scientists collaborate across disciplines to unravel the complexities of disease at the systems level – from molecules and cells to organs and entire organisms. Through strong academic, clinical, and industry partnerships, as well as global networks, we translate biological insights into innovations for early detection, individualized therapies, and disease prevention. Founded in 1992, the Max Delbrück Center is home to a vibrant community of 1,800 people from more than 70 countries.

Prof. Dr. Maike Sander, Scientific Director of the MDC, is seeking a Personal Advisor (f/m/d) to join her team as soon as possible.

You will be closely involved in the day-to-day activities of the Scientific Director and provide support through your strong organizational and analytical skills.

Your work will span operational, administrative, political, strategic, and scientific topics.

Job Description

  • Coordination within the Executive Office:
    Management and optimization of administrative and scientific processes; ensuring an efficient and smooth daily workflow
  • Communicative Interface of the Executive Office:
    Responsible for the exchange of information within the organization and with external partners, funding agencies, and political institutions; active relationship management both internally and externally
  • Appointment Management and Content Preparation:
    Planning, organizing, and structured preparation and follow-up of internal meetings and external appointments; providing content support with a strategic perspective
  • Speechwriting and Text Contributions:
    Drafting impactful speeches, welcome addresses, and other written formats for public appearances and internal events of the Scientific Director
  • Strategic Advisory and Project Work:
    Contributing to the development and implementation of science policy initiatives; independent management and support of projects in the field of science management
  • Preparation of Decision-Making Materials:
    Analyzing complex topics and synthesizing relevant information to create well-founded decision-making and discussion documents for the executive level

Requirements

  • Completed university degree and doctorate, preferably in the life sciences or medicine
  • Excellent and proactive communication skills
  • Strong analytical and conceptual abilities; quick grasp of complex matters
  • Ability to write clear and concise texts in both German and English
  • Structured and independent working style combined with strong teamwork skills
  • Flexibility and resilience
  • Experience in science management is an advantage
