Ana Pombo elected member of EMBO
Prof. Dr. Ana Pombo
Professor Ana Pombo leads the MDC’s Epigenetic Regulation and Chromatin Architecture group. Its research focuses on the interplay between gene regulation and genome architecture, with the goal of identifying the rules and principles governing genome function. Ana Pombo joined the MDC’s Berlin Institute for Medical Systems Biology (BIMSB) in 2013, and simultaneously took up a professorship in “Epigenetic regulation and genome architecture” at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Last year, her group and an international team of researchers published a new method for mapping the three-dimensional geography of the entire genome in the journal Nature.
Ana Pombo is the tenth MDC researcher to be elected to EMBO. Founded in 1964, EMBO is an organization of more than 1800 outstanding researchers that promotes excellence in the life sciences. The major goals of the organization are to support talented researchers at all stages of their careers, stimulate the exchange of scientific information, and help build a European research environment where scientists can achieve their best work.
