They say Berlin is a constant building site – and it seems Campus Berlin-Buch is no exception. A new foundation pit is currently being excavated for construction of the Max Delbrück Center’s Imaging Innovation Center, which is scheduled to open in 2025.

Translucent and offering abundant space for communication to systems biologists at the BIMSB: The Association of German Architects has praised the building of the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC), which was be completed in 2019, at the “BDA Prize Berlin”.

The Käthe Beutler Building has opened. Germany’s Federal Research Minister, Berlin’s Governing Mayor, the Chairman of the Jewish Community of Berlin and many guests inaugurated it. Around 200 specialists will work at the Berlin Center for Translational Vascular Biomedicine – for the benefit of patients.

By mid-2020 two new cryogenic electron microscopes (cryo-EM) will be available to scientists at the Buch campus. The building is almost finished, and the first crates of equipment were delivered in December. There’s still a lot to do, however, before everything is up and running.

Chancellor Angela Merkel inaugurated on Tuesday the Max Delbrück Center’s new building in the heart of Berlin. Some 250 top researchers of the Berlin Institute for Medical Systems Biology (BIMSB) will use the facility to study how genes regulate the lives of cells and thus influence health and disease.

With a clear commitment to research and health science, Chancellor Angela Merkel opened the new MDC research building for the Berlin Institute for Molecular Systems Biology in Berlin Mitte. Her visit is now documented in more detail with additional picture galleries and videos.

The foundations have been laid for the new Käthe Beutler Building on the Berlin-Buch campus. In 2020, this building will become home to the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) – a biomedical research institution that pools the strengths of the MDC and Charité. We spoke to Professor Martin Lohse, Scientific Director of the MDC, about the cooperation.

MDC and BIH erect a new research facility for physicians, researchers and patients. The Käthe Beutler building will be completed in 2020.

Berlin-based artist Fritz Balthaus has won the “Kunst am Bau” two-stage open public art competition organized by the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association (MDC) and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. His work “kunstnest” (“art/artificial nest”) accompanies three newly constructed buildings on the Berlin-Buch research campus.

On 25 May 2016, guests and employees of the MDC and the BIMSB celebrated the start and the progress of construction on the future BIMSB building on Humboldt-Universität’s Campus Nord in Berlin-Mitte.
