Felix Biessmann: Challenges in AI Model Development: Data Quality, Privacy, Scale, and Robustness in Research and Applications

Dear Colleagues,

We are delighted to relaunch the HEIBRiDS Lecture Series on October 28 at 16:00!

For our first lecture, we are pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. Felix Biessmann (Berliner Hochschule für Technik, BHT), who will give a talk on:

“Challenges in AI Model Development: Data Quality, Privacy, Scale, and Robustness in Research and Applications

While modern agentic approaches help with automation of some challenges in research, many challenges remain when building modern applications of Artificial Intelligence for scientific analyses and applications. Common problems are related to technical, procedural or legal hurdles. Underneath these re-occurring difficulties in the AI model development process, there are cross-cutting challenges associated to data quality problems. In this talk I will highlight in a number of examples, ranging from urban technology over biology and life sciences to health care, how some of these challenges can be tackled while accounting for the complexity of responsible AI usage, such that models achieve not only high predictive performance, but also robustness, efficiency, fairness and privacy.”
