Cartoon: The monotonous fate of a stem cell
Here, we present the first in a series of “Molecular biology cartoons” on topics related to research at the MDC. The theme this time is the way stem cells produce more specialized cells. When a stem cell divides, it produces two daughters – one of which is usually maintained as a stem cell, while the other differentiates to take on new functions in an organ or tissue.
