Our Outpatient Clinic for Cardiology at Charité Campus Buch offers specialized and detailed diagnosis and care for patients with primary and secondary cardiomyopathies such as:
  1. hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM, HOCM)
  2. arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (ARVC, ARVD, ACM, AC, ARVCM) 
  3. cardiac involvement in muscular dystrophies
    (DMD, BMD, FSHD, DM1, DM2, PROMM; EDMD, LMNA, LGMD, MFM)
  4. Vasculitis
  5. dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM)
  6. cardiac involvement in systemic diseases
  7. cardiac involvement in storage diseases

The Outpatient Clinic is part of the Experimental and Clinical Research Center (ECRC), a joint facility of Charité and the Max Delbrück Center. In addition to guideline-based as well as state-of-the-art patient care, clinical research with a main focus on cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (cardiac MRI) is performed.

Team

Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Schulz-Menger, patient care is carried out in a team-based concept. Each presentation is discussed collegially in order to ensure the best possible diagnostic and therapeutic concept.

Patients

A referral to cardiology is required to make an appointment and to be seen on site. This can be issued by all physicians of all specialties.

Please bring all available documents, such as doctor's letters, laboratory findings, previous cardiological findings. You are also welcome to send them by mail or electronically in the process after consultation.

Current information

We are available to resident colleagues and offer a specialty consultation for patients with cardiac involvement following COVID-19 infection or vaccination.

Services

Treatment is provided in collaboration with primary care physicians and outpatient specialists. We are available for second opinions and focus on special disease patterns risk stratification. Our management spectrum in overview:

  • basic cardiac diagnostics with resting and long-term ECG, long-term blood pressure and ergometry  
  • stress echocardiography, 3D echocardiography
  • neck vessel Doppler duplex,   
  • Cardiac MRI for specific questions detailed imaging of cardiac function and morphology as well as tissue characterization of the myocardium using cardiac MRI.

Current studies

There is open enrollment in the following studies:

MyoMet CMR

Influence of myocardial metabolism and fatty myocardial degeneration on cardiac remodeling and their relationship to cardiovascular risk - study by cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging.
