Laurence D. Hurst: Medicine: Is it an Evolutionary Health Risk?

Abstract: Prof. Laurence Hurst is Professor of Evolutionary Genetics at the Milner Centre for Evolution at the University of Bath, UK, where he was the founding director. His research focuses on evolutionary genetics and genomics, particularly on understanding genome function and evolution. He is a recipient of the Humboldt Prize and an elected member of EMBO, Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and Fellow of the Royal Society. His recent book, The Evolution of Imperfection (Princeton University Press), was published in 2025.
