The Max Delbrück Center, Berlin, celebrates its new, innovative research building with a “topping-out ceremony.” The Imaging Innovation Center, designed by the architectural firm heinlewischer, will host researchers specializing in imaging and analysis alongside data experts under one roof starting in 2026.

This year’s Berlin Institute of Systems Biology of the Max Delbrück Center summer meeting explored “AI’s Adventures in Genomics.” The meeting provided molecular and computational biologists a forum to discuss the latest advances, challenges, and prospects in harnessing AI for biomedical research.

Life sciences research generates enourmous amounts of data; their analysis is thus no longer possible without machine learning or artificial intelligence. On Girls' Day, students from grades 6 to 12 found out what female mathematicians and computer scientists do at the Max Delbrück Center.

Fabian Coscia wants to analyze exactly what happens at the proteome level during this interaction. He has now been selected for a €1 million-plus grant from the European Research Council (ERC) to pursue this research.

The EU's Innovative Health Initiative is financing the project with 9,9 million euros.

Neuroblastoma is the third most common malignancy in children. 16 labs at the Max Delbrück Center and other Berlin-based researchers will investigate how they originate and grow in a new Collaborative Research Centre. The project, supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG), has been granted approximately €13.5 million.
