The Max Delbrück Center has recently completed construction of a new Demonstrator Lab as a testbed to reduce the environmental impact of biomedical research. The insights gained will be applied to all new building renovations across the center.

From reducing freezer usage to plastic waste, Max Delbrück Center labs have been implementing strategies from the LEAF program for sustainable research. As more labs join the program, they are not only contributing to reaching our sustainability goals, they are also improving research quality.

Helmholtz is aiming to become climate-neutral by 2035; construction and building are critical levers in achieving this goal. The “Helmholtz Climate-Friendly Construction” Expertise Network, based at the Max Delbrück Center, aims to make a significant contribution. An interview with Christian Langfeld.

The Max Delbrück Center, Berlin, celebrates its new, innovative research building with a “topping-out ceremony.” The Imaging Innovation Center, designed by the architectural firm heinlewischer, will host researchers specializing in imaging and analysis alongside data experts under one roof starting in 2026.

The Berlin-Buch campus is currently in third place in the competition organized by Berlin’s state companies — but there are still four more weeks to catch up. The campus’s best first-time competitor was honored at the Bergfest.

The Berlin-Buch campus promotes sustainable and healthy mobility with new infrastructure and a wide range of activities and campaigns. The German Cyclists’ Association ADFC has now honored the campus’s commitment with its Gold Seal – alongside four other bicycle-friendly employers in Berlin.

Twenty-four municipal companies competed against each other in the “Who cycles the most?” competition, held in August and September of this year. Berliner Wasserbetriebe finished first, followed by BVG. Campus Berlin-Buch won third place this time around.
