Sarah Kedziora is a molecular biologist in the Müller/Dechend lab at the Experimental and Clinical Research Center (ECRC), and just as passionate about teaching students in the Life Science Learning Lab. Here, the postdoc recommends a novel by a Japanese author and playwright.

Research teams at the Max Delbrück Center and its partner institutions used a total of 31,517 animals in experiments in 2024 – almost 6,000 fewer than the previous year. These figures were reported to the Berlin State Office for Health and Social Affairs (LaGeSo).

Since April 3, MDC-BIMSB in Berlin Mitte has been hosting an exhibition of 40 photographs by iconic photographer Sibylle Bergemann. During the opening, which was attended by her daughter Frieda and granddaughter Lily von Wild, the rooftop terrace was named in Bergemann’s honor.

Jan Philipp Junker’s new full professorship at Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin will enable him to push the boundaries of tissue regeneration research. Using single-cell sequencing, microscopy and genetics, he hopes to unlock ways to enhance organ regeneration in mammals.

Crime novels are a passion of Michaela Kolbe. A native “Berliner” and a trained business economist, she works in project management for our Corporate IT department and was once a ballet dancer. Kolbe recommends a crime series full of irony and quirks.
