In a commentary, Dr. Sofia Forslund of the Max Delbrück Center and her colleagues outlined challenges faced by transgender scientists and presented ideas on how to tackle them. To commemorate Pride Month in Berlin, Forslund discussed the commentary’s genesis and future efforts at greater inclusion.

The artists Elisabetta Citterio and Claudia Cagliano have created portraits of nearly 60 female researchers from nine countries. Twenty-five of them can be viewed in the "STEM Passion" exhibition until March 12, 2024 in the Rahel Hirsch Center for Translational Medicine Berlin.

Big data, the opportunities of precision medicine, recent advances in organoid technology, and new developments in proteomics: Berlin's Senator for Higher Education and Research, Health and Long-Term Care, Ina Czyborra, visited the Max Delbrück Center in early January to learn about the latest developments in biomedicine.

An afternoon marked by innovation: Berlin's Mayor, Kai Wegner, visited the Max Delbrück Center on October 11, 2023, and subsequently inaugurated the BerlinBioCube innovation center on the Buch research campus. The BioCube, in close proximity, provides state-of-the-art laboratories and offices for life science startups and spin-offs, including those from the Max Delbrück Center.

Armaghan Naghipour, State Secretary for Science, Research and Equality, informed herself about the development of the Berlin-Buch Science and Biotech Campus on February 10, 2023.

Six sites are now collaborating with the Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (German Cancer Research Center) in the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT). In Berlin, a central partner is the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, in close cooperation with the Berlin Institute of Health at the Charité (BIH) and the Max Delbrück Center.

The non-university research institutions in Berlin will work even more closely together in the future. Their network Berlin Research 50 (BR50), founded in 2020, has merged to form a registered non-profit association. Both directors of the Max Delbrück Center sit on the board.

At the end of September, a group of female medical scientists who have fled Ukraine paid a visit to the Max Delbrück Center. Their purpose was to find out more about the institute's work and explore professional career opportunities.

On April 25, 2022, Federal Commissioner for East Germany, Minister of State Carsten Schneider, and Governing Mayor of Berlin Franziska Giffey visited Campus Berlin-Buch to see how the “Zukunftsort” (place of the future) is developing.
