MDC Afternoon for Immunology
We are excited to announce the next session of our MDC Afternoons for Immunology, a quarterly event aimed at bringing together scientists across diverse immunological backgrounds, enhancing networking, and strengthening connections across the Max Delbrück Center and Berlin.
Keynote
This time, we have a fantastic keynote speaker: Professor Paul Klenerman
Professor Paul Klenerman’s research at the Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford investigates host immune responses to viral infections and the underlying mechanisms of viral persistence. His lab focuses on three primary areas: the biology of unconventional, innate-like T cells (specifically CD161++/MAIT cells) abundant in mucosal tissue and the liver; the tracking and optimization of T-cell responses against the Hepatitis C virus (HCV) using adenoviral vectors; and the phenomenon of "memory inflation" — the generation of vast, persistent T-cell populations over time. His translational work has pioneered world-leading trials for T-cell-targeted vaccines against chronic viral diseases.
