Bernadett Gaál: Behind the Scenes at Cell Press
Dear scientists,
We are happy to announce that next week Thursday, 16th of May at 11am - noon, Bernadett Gaál (editor-in-chief of Cell Systems) will visit us at the MDC-BIMSB (R 0.61 Elsa Neumann room) and share some insights about publishing in Cell Press journals. Her talk will focus on the following aspects, which I think would be interesting for many of us at all career levels:
Behind the Scenes at Cell Press
You may wonder how manuscripts are considered and evaluated at Cell Press journals. How do editors determine whether a manuscript is sent for external review? How are the reviewers chosen, and how do editors make a decision based on the comments they receive? Should you contact your editor for advice on your revision plan? When is it worth appealing a decision? I will answer these questions and more, and will give you insight into the processes behind the scenes at Cell Press, including how journals and editors work together on 'transfers'. I will share some tips about how you, in writing your manuscript, can help your editor help you experience an efficient and constructive editorial and review process. I would like to share with you the mission of Cell Systems and will also be happy to answer questions about our sister journals. I will also share some of my personal experiences as an editor along with tips about what to consider if you think an editorial career might be a good fit for you, and how to go about becoming a scientific editor. Most importantly, I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
This will be a hybrid event so you can also join via zoom: https://mdc-berlin.zoom.us/j/94136492400. However, we would strongly encourage you to join in person for better interaction and discussions.
