EU-LIFE Science Vision Talk Contest

On May 22 from 3–6 p.m., we invite you to take part in a very special event that brings our science – and our MDC spirit – into the European spotlight.

The EU-LIFE Science Vision Talk Contest, hosted live from Brno (CEITEC), will showcase researchers from across the EU-LIFE alliance in a format inspired by the Eurovision Song Contest. EU-LIFE is an alliance of leading European research institutes in the life sciences, working together to promote excellence in research, collaboration, and science policy. Each research institute will be represented by a Science Slammer, delivering a 4-minute live performance. We’re proud that David Peran Hayes (“Pez”) will be representing the Max Delbrück Center in this Europe-wide contest.

To experience the Science Contest in full, we’re setting up public viewing areas at both Campus Buch (Axon 2) andCampus Mitte (Large Conference Room). We are creating a true contest atmosphere – with decorations, cheering accessories, and refreshments. You’ll take part in a special MDC shout-out moment, broadcast back to Brno, and be able to vote live for your favorite acts. It’s a wonderful opportunity to share our community’s spirit with the EU-LIFE network – and to leave a lasting impression as a connected, engaged, and collaborative institute.

This contest is a celebration of the science that drives us – our discoveries, our collaboration, and our community. It’s also a reflection of the spirit behind our ‘MDC 2030’ strategy: science in motion, working across boundaries, embracing innovation, and sharing knowledge in new and exciting formats.

It is part of your working time, and we warmly encourage all of you to take part. Your presence matters – not just to support Pez, but to be visible as MDC community that stands behind science and each other.
