Jolanda van der Velden: Metabolic and microtubule remodeling in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
We are pleased to invite you to a Seminar by Jolanda van der Velden from the Department of Physiology, Amsterdam UMC. She was one of our POF reviewers 2023 and has done excellent clinical and translational cardiovascular research.
Jolanda van der Velden is Professor of Physiology, and chairs the Departments of Physiology and Experimental Cardiology at the Amsterdam University Medical Center.
Abstract: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is frequently caused by (likely) pathogenic (LP/P) variants in genes encoding sarcomere proteins. While these LP/P sarcomere gene variants cause myofilament alterations, research in human myectomy samples have uncovered a metabolic and microtubule changes which likely have a central role in cardiac disease development. Published and recent data highlighting the metabolic and microtubule changes complementing studies in human cardiac tissue with a HCM mouse model and hiPSC-derived heart models will be presented.
