Claudia Traidl-Hoffmann: The Consequences of Climate Change for Our Health
We are pleased to invite you to the 21st seminar in the Sustainability Talks Series: The Consequences of Climate Change for Our Health.
Where: remote via Zoom
Our planet is heating up at an accelerating rate – something we have experienced firsthand in Germany, where a new record high temperature for June was recently recorded. Climate change has a wide range of impacts on our physical and mental health. Older adults, young children, and other at-risk groups are particularly affected.
How does climate change affect our health? What role does our modern living environment play, and what measures can protect us and our environment? These questions will be addressed in the upcoming seminar.
Claudia Traidl-Hoffmann (Institute for Environmental Medicine and Integrative Health, University of Augsburg) is Professor of Environmental Medicine at the University of Augsburg’s Medical Faculty and serves as Head Physician of the University Outpatient Clinic for Environmental Medicine at Augsburg University Hospital. She is also the Director of the Institute of Environmental Medicine at Helmholtz Munich. Furthermore, through the German Alliance on Climate Change and Health (KLUG e.V.), she advocates for the concept of Planetary Health — the idea that human health depends on the health of the Earth. In addition to her academic publications, Prof. Traidl-Hoffmann engages with the general public through various media formats to raise awareness about the impact of global heating on our health and potential protective measures. These activities include her book Überhitzt, co-authored with Katja Trippel.
Please note that the talk will be held in German with the option to turn on automated captions in English.
